We are back for the second week of PL Predictions, in which each week I will take on a 'guest' in a battle to correctly predict the 10 PL fixtures in the upcoming gameweek. Didn't get off to a great start last weekend with just the 1 correct score, whilst Brighton's late-ish winner at Turf Moor tipped the balance in my opponents favour.
Conor Hogarth was up last week and you can see as per the results in the table below a narrow 15-13 defeat was the outcome.

Next up we have another good friend of mine, Daniel Carberry (@dcarberry94) who has very kindly taken the time to provide me with his predictions as well as trying his best to justify those selections with a cheap shot at Liverpool legend, Rafael Benitez along the way.
Our predictions for Game Week 2 are as follows;
Liverpool v Burnley
JR: 3-0. ‘Fearful making bolding scoreline predictions for LFC and I hate them playing at home in the early KO. Although they owe Burnley after last season and back in front of a full house should provide a nice boost.
DC: 2-0. ‘Liverpool should have too much for Burnley, particularly in front of a full Anfield again. Can’t see anything but a comfortable win & Burnley having to batten down the hatches’.
Crystal Palace v Brentford
JR: 1-1. ‘Palace were keek last weekend, whilst Brentford were super in the PL opener. Score draw for me here with the thought process that Palace can’t play as poorly as last weekend but also not enough to get a win.
DC: 1-2. ‘Think tough times are ahead for Palace… not completely sold on Viera. Trying to implement a ‘nice’ style of play, however PL games come thick and fast and there isn’t much room for learning. Brentford will be buoyed by last week’s result - though they will find it a lot tougher at a full Selhurst Park’
Manchester City v Norwich City
JR: 4-0. ‘City will be out to right the wrongs of last weekend, with a strong showing to avoid a 4th competitive defeat in a row at the hands of the poor canaries.
DC: 5-0. ‘Was tempted to go double figures here, but reigned it in. Comfortable.’
Aston Villa v Newcastle United
JR: 3-1. ‘I actually thought Newcastle were decent value for a result last weekend, before the dodgy pen decision. Villa will want to quickly put last week’s result behind them and get a home win with a better performance.
DC: 2-1. ‘As above, Newcastle looked decent for long periods of last week.. However, once the Hammers turned the screw a bit - it all came falling down. Villa had a poor result last weekend, but almost clawed it back. Fancy them taking the 3 points this week.’
Leeds United v Everton
JR: 2-1. ‘Probably the toughest one to call this weekend, but a full house at Elland Road swings it.’
DC: 2-2. ‘Tough game to call. Full Elland Road will play a huge factor, however expect the Fat Spanish Waiter to exploit Leeds’ defensive frailties and spoil the party.’
Brighton v Watford (17:30)
JR: 2-0. ‘Gritty win last weekend for Brighton at a tough ground, whereas a shock win for the Hornets in the opening round raised a few eyebrows although I fancy Brighton to have enough this weekend.
DC: 1-1. ‘On paper, the worst game possible to have as the late KO on Saturday. For that - I'll sit on the fence. Draw.’
Southampton v Manchester United (Sun)
JR: 1-3. ‘Really impressed by United last weekend albeit Leeds’ defending was questionable to say the least. Expect another pretty comfortable result to follow in GW2.
DC: 0-2. ‘United made me a happy man last weekend, with Mr Inevitable resuming normal service. The thoughts of last year’s game(s) have me feeling relatively confident. However, as I type that, that slightly worries me….’
Wolverhampton Wanderers v Tottenham Hotspur (Sun)
JR: 1-1. ‘On another day Wolves could have taken 3 points from the King Power last weekend, with Adama missing a couple of big chances. Spurs also impressed last weekend but I expect a tight game on Nuno’s return to Molineaux after European football on Thursday night.
DC: 1-2. ‘Despite Spurs’ awful result on Thursday night, I expect Nuno to get the better of his Portuguese counterpart(s) and come away from Molineaux with the 3 points. That being said - it won’t be plain sailing.’
Arsenal v Chelsea (Sun)
JR: 1-2. ‘Debated giving Arsenal a chance here but can’t look past Chelsea winning at the Emirates although not expecting a walkover. Cue 4-0 Chelsea win.’
DC: 0-2. ‘Can’t look beyond a Chelsea win, despite Arsenal/Arteta’s relatively good record against Chelsea. They were so poor last weekend with Chelsea only getting stronger, with the return of players. Big Rom to get some minutes off the bench potentially, to strike fear into the rest of the PL.’
West Ham United v Leicester City (Mon)
JR: 2-2. ‘Expect a decent game for the first MNF of the season. Plenty of goals as predicted in the Hammer’s game last weekend also.’
DC: 1-2. ‘Decent game on paper again - crowd will most likely have an effect (again), however I do think Leicester carry a bit too much fire power.’
